A sweet taste of Hong Kong

Reuel John F. Lumawag

I UNDERWENT a management training course a few days ago. After the training, I was looking for a place where I can satisfy my cravings and enjoy some good food.

Luckily, SM Lanang Premier was just near the venue. The mall hosts a number of quality food establishments that will satisfy one's cravings.

After enjoying a goood meal at a Japanese restaurant, I decided to have dessert at the newly-opened Sweetisan, which serves traditional Hong Kong desserts like sweet soups, milk custard, and tarts. They also serve cakes and tea too.

I ordered the Mango Sago (P100), Milk Custard with Almond, Caramel, and Walnut Toppings (P145), Cheesetart (P80), and Matcha Cheesetart (P95).

I really enjoyed the Milk Custard with Almond, Caramel, and Walnut Toppings. The custard was not very sweet and I like that it was creamy. I love the crunch from the walnuts and almonds. I like how it added another flavor to the dessert.

The Mango Sago is a sweet soup with mango cubes and tapioca. My biggest issue with the dessert is it was very sweet. However, I did like that it has mango cubes in it.

The Cheesetart's filling was really good and cheesy. However, I did not like the tart crust because the one I had was a bit hard. But since it was really good, I finished the tart.

The Matcha Cheesetart was my least favorite of the desserts I ordered. I think it was too sweet.

Visit Sweetisan at the Cinema Hallway, second floor of SM Lanang Premier.
