Philippine Eagle Center in Barangay Malagos, Davao City is a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, and as a photographer, being covered by wilderness is just simply refreshing to the eyes.

With the lush of greens and yellows inside the 8.4 hectare park, the unique brown feather and hypnotizing eyes of the Philippine Eagle will instantly turn heads, not to mention the effect on you once they open their wings.

The center has 32 eagles inside but only few are on display. Only a smaller number of eagles were allowed to be viewed up close like Maginoo, hatched on December 15, 2000.

Seen from afar is Pag-asa the first Philippine Eagle to be bred and hatched in captivity. At 27 years old, Pag-asa still awes the visitors as it watches down to them from his cage.

Aside from the eagles, dozens of bird species, mammals, and reptiles are being cared for inside the park. But before heading to the exits, make sure to drop by to see the Philippine long-tailed macaques to enjoy the acrobatic monkeys.

For more close encounters with Philippine Eagle, the center launched “Flight of the Raptor” last year at P300 for adults and P250 for kids.

The center is open everday from 8AM to 5PM, but make sure to visit early to make the most out of your tour.
