A LOT of families in Cotabato and Davao del sur were greatly affected by the series of strong earthquakes that struck North Cotobato in late October.

Days after the earthquake struck Cotabato and was felt in neighboring areas, different individuals and organizations have banded together to help the affected communities.

Real estate developer Anchor Land Holdings Inc. tapped the University Community Engagement and Advocacy Council (UCEAC) of the Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) to help them in delivering the relief assistance to families affected by the earthquake.

These relief items are mainly basic needs like toiletries. The company donated some 300 relief packs for the beneficiaries.

“Filipinos are resilient in nature so we want to be part as they rise up from the recent earthquake. Likewise, we want to give back and support the areas where we build in. We are one community now that’s why we are one with them in triumphs and adversities,” Elizabeth Ventura, Anchor Land president, said.

UCEAC chairperson Mark Paul Samante said Anchor Land delivered the relief packs to them on November 13, 2019.

“We will be bringing these items to a community in Makilala by next week,” Samante said.

He added that the items will be delivered to a partner community of around 200 to 300 families.

Prior to the delivery of relief assistance next week, AdDU-UCEAC has already delivered relief assistance to communities in Tulunan, Makilala, Magpet, and Kidapawan. They also sent relief items through the help of the Philippine Airforce to a community in Magsaysay, Davao del Sur.

On Friday, November 15, the university also delivered items to St. Mary’s College of Bansalan. These were 60 sacks of relief items. Each sack contains six packs of relief assistance.
