POLICE Regional Office (PRO)-Davao recorded a total of 16 beneficiaries of the Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) who have surrendered within the 15-day grace period given by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Based on the data from PRO-Davao, it noted 76 heinous crime convicts listed in the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) whose residences are in Davao Region.

As of 10 a.m. Thursday, September 19, only 16 were in different police stations under PRO-Davao.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) has the highest number of surrenderers with five, Davao del Norte Police Provincial Office (DNPPO) with four, Compostela Valley PPO with 3, and Davao del Sur PPO, Davao Oriental PPO, and Davao Occidental PPO with one each.

The 15-day grace period ended on September 18.

Police said those who did not show up are considered as fugitives and are subjected to re-arrest.

PRO-Davao, in a previous report, said they are now ready to launch a massive manhunt. But said they are still awaiting for a go signal from the higher-ups before conducting the operation.

Each provincial police station and city police office has readied their tracker team to locate the addresses of the "fugitives" and to conduct re-arrest in accordance with President Rodrigo Duterte's orders.

In a recent interview with PRO-Davao spokesperson Police Major Jason Baria, he said they are just waiting for the directive from headquarters to have a uniform approach and to learn the proper protocols and procedures in arresting the freed convicts.

While waiting for the green light, they are still expecting more convicts to surrender.
