THE 182 barangays in Davao City were encouraged to send at least two entries for the parol-making contest for the city’s Pasko Fiesta celebration.

“Allowed ang per barangay mag-submit og two entries kay usahay man gud naa pud silay activity sa barangay so basig dili maka-submit ang uban (Each barangay is allowed to submit at least two entries because other barangays may have their own activity which may hinder them to submit their own entries),” Jose Ong, community affairs officer, said last Thursday, November 15, during the I-speak media forum, adding that the allowed number will pave way for a more entries in the event.

There are no specific materials for the lanterns as long as these could withstand the rain or the sun, Ong added.

“Daghan unta og entries kay kani man gud parol, dugang pud ni sa panindot sa atong siyudad (We hope that there will be more entries because it will also add up to the beautification of our city),” Ong said.

Lanterns should not exceed the size of four feet or 1.2 meters in diameter and should not less than three by three feet. It should also not exceed five kilos.

Accepting of entries will be until November 29 only since the scheduled screening is on December 1 to 6.

The winner of the lantern-making contest will receive P20,000 cash prize; second place will receive P15,000; while the third place will get P10,000; fourth place - P7,000; and the fifth place will have P5,000.
