3 DavOr residents rescued from sinking boat

THREE residents of Davao Occidental, who were aboard a sinking boat going to Sarangani were rescued by maritime forces late Thursday evening, August 11.

In a report from the Maritime Balut Island Police Station, the police, in coordination with the Philippine Coast Guard, and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office rescued three individuals whose boat traveling to Barangay Batulaki in Glan, Sarangani Province sunk.

The police said they received a report from a concerned citizen that maritime personnel immediately responded to.

According to the report, the pumpboat departed at Port Mabila, Brgy. Mabila, Sarangani in Davao Occidental. Suddenly, the pumpboat engine shut off and the operator tried to fix the engine but then, he noticed that the boat gradually sank due to the sea waters entering the boat quickly.

Authorities identified the rescued passengers as Judith L. Palo, 34; Dandan Wahabe Paro, 27; and Jandil Arabi, 3. All are residents of Balut Island.

They were immediately brought to the Sarangani Hospital for medical attention. RGL
