3rd district candidate withdraws

A CANDIDATE from Davao City's third district withdrew his candidacy for city councilor.

Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Davao Region election officer Jerry Mujal said in an interview with SunStar Davao Wednesday, January 16 that Orlando Fulguerinas from Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC) political party cancelled his candidacy.

"Gi huna huna niya, mu withdraw nalang siya ana lang niya gibutang didto (He decided to withdraw based on the letter he sent)," Mujal said.

He said that it was in December 2018 that Fulguerinas decided to withdraw. He added that there were no other reasons stated by Fulguerinas upon withdrawal.

As of January 16, there are a total of 12 candidates vying for City Council seats in the third district while there are 20 candidates in second district and 18 in first district.

Paolo Duterte of Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod, Rex Labis and Susan Uyanguren from Independent party are the candidates for the first district congressional seats.

Vincent Garcia (second district) and Isidro Tom Ungab (third district) are running for Congress unopposed.
