THE arrest of the Kapa Community Ministry International founder Pastor Joel Apolinario resulted in a bloody encounter with two confirmed dead.

In a police report, the shootout between the group of Apolinario, 46, and the authorities happened in a far-flung area of Sitio Dahican, Barangay Handamayan, Lingig, Surigao del Sur on July 21, 2020 around 7:30 a.m.

The joint forces of police in the area and the Philippine Coast Guard went to Apolinario's residence to serve his warrant of arrest for syndicated estafa, which is a non-bailable case.

Authorities are still in the process of identifying the fatalities.

One Melecio Siano, allegedly a member of the pastor's group, was immediately rushed to Bislig City District Hospital after he was hit in his feet by a bullet.

Following the arrest, authorities recovered 30 units of M16 rifle, two units M4 rifle, Garand rifle, three units M60 machine gun, 50-caliber sniper rifle, three units caliber 22 rifle, carbine, shotgun, rocket propelled grenade, five units caliber 45 pistol, and different kinds of ammunition.
