THE City Government of Davao will donate P1 million assistance to flood-affected areas in Marikina City.

Marikina City has been declared under state of calamity after Typhoons Inday and Josie followed by Typhoon Carding hit the place on August 11.

“Two months ago, we signed an agreement and since Marikina City was affected the other day, Mayor Sara requested the City Council to utilize P1 million of the Quick Response Fund (Calamity Fund),” Vice Mayor Bernard Al-ag said in an interview with SunStar Davao on Tuesday, August 14.

Meanwhile, Davao City Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang said that he witnessed the millions-worth of damage on properties incurred because of the massive rain in Marikina City when he was in Luzon yesterday with Davao the City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.

Dayanghirang also said it was only right to extend help to Davao's sister city.

Al-ag said some 1,000 families or 5,265 individuals are currently in evacuation areas in Marikina City.
