DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio reminded Dabawenyos not to call the 911 emergency hotline for concerns regarding the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Duterte-Carpio, during a radio interview on Thursday, March 19, said there are individuals who are calling Central 911 to inquire their concerns about the Covid-19 disease, which had affected the center's operation.

"Every time nga gatawag mo (sa 911), matabunan ninyo ang isa ka tawag nga emergency (Every time you call 911 regarding your queries, you are barring important calls such as for emergencies)," the mayor said.

She added, "Naga-request mi sa tanan (I am requesting the public) to refrain from calling 911 if you are not in an emergency (situation) because we reserved our 911 personnel and call center for emergencies and disasters."

The mayor, meanwhile, said any Covid-19-related concerns must be reported to the Davao City Covid-19 operation center.

The center, which was activated on Saturday, March 14, is a 24/7 operational hotline center that will cater to concerns from Dabawenyos who might be experiencing flulike symptoms such as cough, colds, fever, diarrhea, and sore throat, linked to Covid-19.

Duterte-Carpio said those manifesting all of symptoms must contact the center, as they will be giving instructions on what to do.

The center can be contacted through cellphone, telephone, and e-mail.

The mayor said this is to avoid people from rushing to different health centers and hospitals, which might transmit further the virus.
