Davao Region under Alert Level 2 until December 15

Ralph Lawrence G. Llemit

THE Alert Level 2 status of the entire Davao Region is extended until December 15.

In a statement on Monday evening, November 29, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases approved the extension of the Alert Level 2 status in Davao City, Davao del Norte, Davao de Oro, Davao del Sur, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental for another 15 days.

The region's alert level status reflects the continuous downtrend of Covid-19 cases.

According to the Department of Health-Davao Region data as of November 29, active cases in the region are at 1,009, or only one percent of the 104,161 total Covid-19 cases in the region.

The region for the past few days experienced below five percent positivity rate, signifying that the Covid-19 cases are becoming manageable, based on the threshold set by the World Health Organization.

The critical care utilization rate of all designated Covid-19 beds is also at a "safe level."

For intensive care unit (ICU) beds, the available rate is at 54.7 percent, while isolation beds are 69.4 percent available, and 77.2 percent of ward beds are available.

Under the Alert Level 2 status, restrictions have been eased for all ages regardless of comorbidities or vaccination status.

More establishments will be allowed to operate under the said alert level.
