THE Philippine Pharmacists Association (PPhA) is bent on digitalizing Patient Drug Profiling in all pharmacies in the country.

In a press conference last April 30 during the recently-concluded 99th National Convention of the Philippine Pharmacists Association, Inc., Professional Regulatory Board of Pharmacy member Adelina Royo said they are going to digitize records in all pharmacies for a more efficient drug therapy profiling.

“We are still preparing for this, every drugstore should input digitally the history and transactions of all patients so the next time they’ll go for a drugstore, pharmacists will have prior background on the patient,” she said.

She added that information about a patient's drug therapy is essential to ensure better medication.

A digital Patient Drug Profiling will be introduced in Botika ng Bayan (BNB) in Davao City.

The city piloted five BNB located in Lingap Center at the Southern Philippines Medical Center, the City Health Office, and Calinan, Toril and Bunawan District health centers.

Meanwhile, 4,000 pharmacists around the country gathered during the annual convention under the theme: Unleash the power in you: Pharmacists rising beyond expectations.

PPhA president Dr. Yolanda R. Robles, for her part, said the convention is a testament to the dedication of pharmacists to help provide excellent medical services to the public.

“The ultimate goal really is to make medications accessible to all and to equip pharmacists with advance knowledge and trends of the industry,” she said.

PPhA, in the last five years, advanced several health and profession-related policies such as Republic Acr 10918 or the Philippine Pharmacy Act of 2016; RA 11223 or the Universal Health Care Act; RA 10912 or the Continuing Professional Development, among others.
