Ex-town official wounded in Zambo Sur shooting

A FORMER town official was shot and wounded outside a cockpit in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Sunday.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, disclosed the incident happened around 4:30 p.m., Saturday, August 31, at Purok Banana in the village of Poblacion, Pitogo, Zamboanga del Sur.

Galvez identified the victim as Pedy Dalaota, 56, a former municipal councilor of Pitogo and a resident of the village of San Isidro in the same town.

Galvez said investigation showed that Dalaota just came from the cockpit and was about to board his motorcycle when repeatedly shot by a lone gunman.

She said the victim was rushed to the Margosatubig Regional Hospital for treatment, while suspect fled towards the direction of Dimataling and Tabina municipalities.

She said recovered from the crime scene were five empty shells of caliber .45 pistol, a deformed slug and one live ammunition. (SunStar Philippines)
