Firearms, medical supplies discovered in Agusan Sur

PHILIPPINE Army's 4th Infantry Division discovered a cache containing various high-powered firearms, war materials and medical/food supplies in Barangay Bunawan Brook in Bunawan town in Agusan del Sur on Sunday, April 15.

Army's 75th Infantry Battalion commander Lieutenant Colonel Jaime Datuin said the cache recovered at tri-boundary of Sta. Monica, Kiaksan and San Isidro is from Guerrilla Front Committee 14, North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee.

The cache contained one M14 rifle, one AK47 rifle, six Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), 17 assorted rifle magazine, 159 assorted ammunitions from various caliber pistols, one rifle grenade, and 315 pieces super dyne explosives.

Also found inside the cache are six blasting caps, three handheld radio batteries, 450-meter electrical wires, one Yamada generator set, one Acer multi-media projector, 28 gallons of rice, military uniforms and sweatshirts with BHB markings.

Other items found in the cache were New People’s Army (NPA) caps, back packs, medical supply, dental supplies and various medicines, Communist Party of the Philippines-NPA books and other propaganda materials.

Datuin said the cache was discovered around 2 p.m. on April 15, Sunday, following the information of the concerned citizens near the areas. He added that the division is grateful for the information and participation of the communities.
