SECURITY forces are on full alert status for the staging of the Kadayawan Festival with the scheduled deployment of all personnel who will carry out the security coverage on Thursday, August 9, at Camp Domingo Leonor, Davao City.

Police Senior Inspector Ma. Teresita Gaspan, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson, Tuesday said that they will implement maximum deployment of their personnel to increase police visibility and thwart criminal and terroristic acts in coordination with other law enforcement agencies in the city.

She said that based on their intelligence monitoring, there are no direct threats to the city, however, they are not discounting possibility of any eventuality.

Security forces will be deployed to vital locations such as the seaports, airports, overland terminals and coastal areas. They will also install checkpoints in bypass roads to ensure that no lawless elements will be able to enter the city.

This is aside from the security coverage that they will conduct during the staging of several events in the city.

She also reminded the cops that there is no leave allowed during this occasion and those who are on leave will be recalled except those with emergency cases.

Expecting an influx of visitors, Gaspan added that a total of 100 tourist police are already established on the ground located in city’s tourist destinations and hotels to assist the visitors.

Tourists are not also exempted from the local ordinances that are being implemented in the city, thus, they’ve started installing tarpaulins and leaflets indicating the dos and don’ts and reminders for the revelers.

Meanwhile, she reminded those who will be joining the activities, to refrain from bringing backpacks, hats, bladed weapons and canister, among others to avoid inconvenience during the inspection.

The police officer added that they will not put up a baggage counter so it is better for the public to heed their call.
