LTO to create probe team on road crashes

THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) will soon have its own investigating team on road crashes.

During the opening of the Driver’s License Renewal Office (DLRO) at Gaisano Grand-Buhangin, Davao City, last Thursday, Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante said that their own investigating team will inspect other areas of road crash incidents.

“I initiated the creation of investigating teams in the region and even in districts so that if there is an accident or road crash, gusto may LTO na nag-i-imbestiga,” Galvante said.

“Usually, ang ini-imbestigahan ng mga pulis, kung sino ang may kasalanan, kung sino ang may kagagawan or whatever. Kung sino ang na-injured,” he said.

The investigating team of LTO will investigate on the areas of vehicle maintenance or the violations committed by the driver if there are any, Galvante said.

“We want those little innovations that should’ve been done a long time ago,” he said, adding that LTO is aiming to reduce road crashes in the country.

“When we talk about road crashes in the world, ang Pilipinas ay nandun sa top. We want to get out of that, na parang kilala ang Pilipinas as not safe for drivers,” Galvante said.

The goal should be to make the Philippines a country of safe driving.

“Hindi natin maipagmamalaki na tayo ay nasa top when it comes to road crashes, instead sa listahan ng safe driving, dun gusto natin nasa top tayo kaya pagbutihin natin,” he added.
