Magnitude 6.4 quake hits off Davao Occidental

A MAGNITUDE 6.4 earthquake hit off Davao Occidental on Sunday morning, September 29.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake occurred at 10:02 a.m. with its epicenter located at 130 kilometers southeast of Jose Abad Santos town.

Phivolcs said aftershocks are expected.

The tremor, which was tectonic in origin, was felt at:

Intensity 4 - General Santos City

Intensity 3 - Tampakan, South Cotabato; Kidapawan City; Makilala, and Magpet, Cotabato; Davao City; Magsaysay and Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur; Panabo City; Gingoog City and Magsaysay, Misamis Oriental; Damulog and Kalilangan, Bukidnon.

Intensity 2 - Cagayan de Oro City; Balingasag, Jasaan, and Villanueva, Misamis Oriental; Kabacan, M'lang, and Tulunan, Cotabato; Columbio and Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat.
