OCD reports zero casualty after LPA

Juliet C. Revita

THE Office of Civil Defense 11 (OCD 11) recorded zero casualty in Davao Region after continuous rainfall brought about by a Low Pressure Area (LPA) affecting areas of Mindanao.

OCD 11 operations officer Franz Irag said based on their monitoring there was no reported significant incidents related to the LPA.

However, he said 11 families in Barangay Abejod, Cateel, Davao Oriental undertook preemptive evacuation after the water level rose on Monday. The families have already returned to their respective homes after the water subsided.

“No major untoward incident due to current weather system,” Irag said.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) issued an Orange rainfall alert for Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte, South Cotabato, Davao del Sur, and Sarangani earlier this week due to the continuous rainfall. The alert level means that flooding in low-lying areas and landslides were possible.

OCD 11 is calling on the public to stay alert and monitor weather updates and stay informed if there is already a need for evacuation in their respective areas.
