THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap)-Davao said the Francisco Bangoy International Airport can accommodate a maximum of 350 passengers at any one time when domestic flights resume on June 8, 2020.

"During our inspection and counting of passenger seats inside the airport, we can only accommodate some 350 people at a time provided that proper physical distancing is observed,” Caap-Davao passenger terminal supervisor Alex Suarez said on Friday at the sidelines of the simulation of resumption of flights in Davao airport.

Based on experience during the sweeper flights in May, 347 passengers using all gate lounges at the domestic terminal can be accommodated at one time, with passengers seated three to four seats apart.

"For now, we only have one flight per day. On June 8, Philippine Airlines will serve the Davao-Manila flight and vice versa, then alternate na yan sila with other airlines Cebu Pacific and Air Asia,” Suarez said adding other domestic flights will be open in the succeeding weeks.

Safety and health protocols

Before entering the airport terminal, a passenger passes through a health screening and sanitation booth which will check body temperature.

"Kailangan din po nakamask po upon entering the booth because it will detect if you are not wearing one,” Suarez said.

A green light means the passenger can proceed to check. A red light means the passenger failed the temperature test and will be directed to an isolation facility in the airport.

“But we can only accommodate four persons in the facility, so we requested additional facilities to be established here and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio promised to install another one,” Suarez said.
