NEWLY-INSTALLED Bureau of Fire Protection Davao (BFP 11) regional director Fire Senior Superintendent Fred L. Trajeras Jr. on Thursday, July 19, bared that a P100 million worth of brand new firefighting equipment will arrive next month.

In his speech during the turnover ceremony, Trajeras said the equipment will be donated by the United States of America.

The firefighting equipment will improve the services of the region's fire department.

Trajeras said that he only wanted harmony and urged the cooperation of BFP 11 officers and staff.

“I am more than willing to serve as a public servant,” he said.

Outgoing BFP 11 regional director Senior Superintendent Wilberto Rico Neil Kwan Tiu said he would carry on with his mandate in serving Region 8 despite the challenges.

“I am grateful to all the people who have helped throughout my term here. Without them, the accomplishments and activities that had been achieved and implemented in this organization could not be effectivem,” Kwan Tiu said.

He cited that having established its own operation center to ensure effective and efficient response with close coordination with Central 911 is one of the achievements of BFP 11.

He also said that they are promoting transparency and fighting corruption as BFP aims to build character among their personnel.

The outgoing director also presented some of its activities under his term: the First Kiddie and Junior Fire Marshal summer camp in the region last year with 1,200 participants, and Fire Square Activities held at SM City Davao and Gaisano Mall of Davao.

It was supported by various organizations like the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (Pdea), Task Force Davao, Department of Health (DOH), Philippine National Police (PNP), and Philippine Red Cross.

Tiu also said they improved their facilities including the equipment room as well as the retirement and separation benefit system for retirees. (Abigail Joyce C. Cahiwat, MSU-Marawi Intern)
