PRO-Davao condemns killing of policeman

THE Police Regional Office-Davao Region (PRO-Davao) condemned the killing of a policeman who was shot to death by unidentified assailants on Tuesday morning, May 31 in Matanao, Davao del Sur.

The officer, identified as Patrolman Hariz Jhun Adayo, 26, was killed by two riding in tandem in Barangay New Visayas around 6:40 a.m.

Adayo, who hails from Bansalan, Davao del Sur, was assigned at the Don Marcelino Municipal Police Station before he was killed.

According to the initial report from authorities, the victim was traveling from his place of residence heading to Barangay Hagonoy where he was shot by the suspects using a .45 caliber gun.

The victim sustained at least five gunshot wounds and was immediately brought to Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital for medical attention but was declared dead on arrival.

Authorities are yet to determine the motive of the killing.

Meanwhile, the suspects fled to Hagonoy.

In a statement, PRO-Davao Director Brigadier General Benjamin Silo Jr. condemned the killing of the said police officer and ensures that justice will be served to the bereaved family.

"The entire family of Police Regional Office 11 extends their heartfelt sympathy and condolence to the family of Patrolman Adayo," PRO-Davao said in a statement.
