Provincial buses eyed

Sunnexdesk

THE provincial buses might be considered in Peak Hours Augmentation Buses (PHABS) in Davao City.

Lawyer Tristan Dwight Domingo, Davao City assistant city administrator for operations, said during the ISpeak conference at the Davao City Hall Thursday that any type of bus may allowed in PHABS but they only prioritize low-floor or city buses here.

Domingo clarified that PHABS is not an experimental or dry run for HPBS.

“Because of the need basin mag deploy mi atong dagkong buses but kato nang provincial buses (We might deploy provincial buses depending on the need),” he said.

He added there are currently seven city-type PHABS plying the Catalunan Grande and Toril routes.

Domingo said they also considered two additional routes such as Cabantian and Mintal. However, Land Transportation and Regulatory Board 11 regional director lawyer Cattleya Acaylar said in a text message on Friday that they did not receive any recommendation from the city.

Acaylar added that a meeting is set on March 4 on the Mintal and Cabantian routes.

The PHABS started its operation on February 20 in Catalunan Grande and Toril routes to help the public get accessible rides during peak hours. (RJC)
