CITY officials and colleagues reminisced the contributions of the late City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) head Erwin Alparaque, who passed away Saturday evening, August 10, due to ruptured brain aneurysm.

According to mayoclinic.org, ruptured brain aneurysm is a bulge or ballooning in a blood vessel in the brain causing bleeding into the brain. Most often, it occurs in the space between the brain and the thin tissues covering the brain.

Alparaque's son, Earvin, told SunStar Davao his father was admitted early Monday morning, August 5, after complaining of severe headache. He was unconscious for a few days before he passed away.

Earvin said that his father, prior to his admission, underwent medical consultation two weeks ago after complaining of similar headache and his blood pressure rose. The doctor advised him to take medical rest.

"Pero pagkaweek after nitrabaho siya'g balik. Kini man gud si papa di siya mag-ingon nga naa siya gibati, kung kaya niya. Di pud niya gusto naa nagaworry (He went back to work a week after. My dad is not vocal on the pain he endures, as much as possible because he thinks he could still tolerate it. He also doesn't want us to worry much)," Earvin said.

He said his family did not expect Alparaque's demise.

"Unexpected gyud siya kay Saturday before ani kay nagsimba ug nagsine pa mi. Then the next day, nag gym pa mi. Wala gyu'y sign (It was unexpected. Previous Saturdays, we still got the chance to go to church and watch a movie. The next day, we went to the gym. There was no signs of his condition during those days)," he said.

As a father, Earvin described him as a "selfless" person who provided his family's needs.

He also commended him as a dedicated government official who diligently works on the tasks bestowed upon him.

Assistant city administrator Lawrence Bantiding lauded the late city treasurer for his service in the local government.
