THE Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) will sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Monark Equipment Corporation on Wednesday, August 22, to further strengthen national competency on construction-related courses in the country.

"Tesda cannot do this alone, Tesda doesn't work in isolation. We need the help from the private sector," Engineer Lorenzo Macapili said during the Kapehan sa Dabaw at The Annex of SM City Davao Monday, August 20.

He also said that to strengthen the national competency in the country, they need assistance from the private sector like Monark Equipment Corporation, D.M. Consunji, Inc. (DMCI), Davao Constructors Association Center Inc., among others.

"Laborers are different from highly-skilled construction workers," Macapili said, adding that the private sector will allow those who will enroll in Tesda to be able to use heavy equipment from Monark after the signing of MOA for a more focused-training to be able to produce highly-skilled workers.

Meanwhile, Macapili disclosed that they lack trainers so they are also asking the private sector to train trainers.

"We are coordinating with the constructors group and industries to personally train," he added.
