UNREQUITED love and jealousy drove a suitor of a lady guard to kill her in a car surplus display shop in Talomo, Davao City last December 1, 2018.

In an interview with the suspect, Arnold Compila, on Wednesday, December 5, he admitted killing Arlene Sabpa, 34, security guard of Trigger Fist Security Agency and resident of Tamped, Matalam town in North Cotabato.

“Kato siya gipanguyaban nako og duha ka bulan wala nisugot kay nag-ingon man siya nga naa naman siyay bana ana ko: sorry lang kay naa naman diay (I courted her for two months but she refused because she said that she already has a husband and I said: Sorry, you already have [a husband]),” Compila said.

He added, “Sa sobraan ka selos ako siya napatay (because of excessive jealousy, I killed her).”

Investigation by the Talomo Police Station showed that around 7 a.m. on December 1, a certain Alvin Porgo discovered the victim lying lifeless on the ground, bathed in her own blood. The woman succumbed to head injuries after she was hit by a hard object.

Compila said he hit her with a rock until she lost her consciousness.

He also confessed that he attempted to rape her which matched the investigators’ report that the lady guard’s belt was loosened.

He asked for forgiveness to the family of the victim saying he regretted his action.

Talomo Police Station Commander Police Chief Inspector Ronald Lao said that they will be filing a case of murder against Compila who was arrested yesterday morning during a pursuit operation. (JCR)
