Vehicle carrying 37 overturns

TWO passengers sustained minor injuries after the jeepney they were riding in overturned after hitting an electric post in Purok 3, Barangay New Valencia, Tugbok District, Davao City, Friday, December 28.

Based on the initial report of Tugbok Police Station, the jeepney with plate number KVB 919 was carrying 37 passengers.

It was driven by Arnel Labora Repuela, 26, a resident of Balangay, Quezon, Bukidnon City.

Tugbok Police Station traffic investigator Police Officer 1 Winamie Taboso said in a phone interview with SunStar Davao that the vehicle came from of Quezon, Bukidnon and was headed towards Kaputian, Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos).

The driver allegedly overtook another vehicle, hit a post of the Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC) and flipped over at 9:40 a.m. Friday.

Taboso added that injured passengers were assisted by Central 911 for first aid since they refused to be brought to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) in Davao City.

After getting treatment, the passengers stayed at the Barangay Hall of Barangay New Valencia waiting for another vehicle while the driver was held at the Tugbok Police Station.
