17th Elderlympics set

THE 17th Elderlympics will get underway on December 6 and 7 at the Fil Oil Flying V Center, formerly Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC) Gym.

Luis Moran, Office of the Senior Citizen Affairs (Osca) assistant head, bared this during Thursday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at The Annex of SM City Davao.

He said 14 districts in Davao City will compete in the annual sportsfest that features chess, dama, table tennis, badminton, zumba, choral contest and ballroom competition.

Dubbed as “Palaro at Pagbabago,” participants will come from Talomo A and B, City Poblacion A and B, Bunawan, Paquibato, Buhangin A and B, Baguio and Calinan districts, among others.

He, however, said the three-point shootout and track and field events were scrapped this year.

He added, “Aside from the district, there will be special participation from the UCCP Senior Citizen Association, Maa Elderly Federation, Fraternal Elderly Society Unlimited and Davao City Elderly Retirees Association.

The Elderlympics is supported by the city government of Davao. (MLSA)
