1st ever Mindanao Coaches Convention set Sept. 20-22

AFTER conducting a series of pocket coaches forum in different regions of Mindanao, the Mindanao Peace Games (MPG) will hold its biggest and first-ever Mindanao Coaches Convention on September 20 to 22 at the Ateneo de Davao University.

Ateneo de Davao University grade school athletics director and MPG member Airnel Abarra Thursday, August 30, 2018, bared this during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum held at The Annex of SM City Davao.

Abarra said the three-day convention will gather some 65 coaches and sports leaders who are members and non-members of MPG including participants outside Mindanao.

He added that the event aims to empower sports leaders of Mindanao and raise the culture of sports, thus, they have invited inspirational speakers and facilitators including MPG convener Noli Ayo, University of Southeastern Philippines sports director Dr. Jose Alther Rivera, University Athletic Association of the Philippines executive director lawyer Rene Saguisag Jr., Barcelona Olypmpics taekwondo bronze medalist Stephen Fernandez, Soccsksargen Peace Network director Fr. Angelo Buenavides and Philippine Sports Commission consultant lawyer Victor Africa, among others.

“We want train more sports leaders and elevate the standards for the coaches,” he said, adding that the event will also feature a banquet dinner during culmination.

Registration is pegged at P6,000 inclusive of food, snacks, kits and hotel accommodation for three days.
