THE Association for the Advancement of Karate (AAK) Davao brought home five gold medals, two silvers and two bronzes at the close of the 31st Milo Little Olympics Mindanao Leg held at the Limketkai Atrium in Cagayan de Oro City over the weekend.

Last year's double champion Atsuko Kaiyel Tan of Davao Christian High School (DCHS) defended the girl's Grade 1-2 kumite gold while Aldren Solon, Kyzzhia Pauline Navarro, John Philip Cagandahan and Stephen Cartagena delivered one gold each.

Solon, also from DCHS, ruled the boys -42kg kumite while Navarro and Cagandahan, both from the University of Immaculate Concepcion (UIC), governed the girls -48kg kumite and boys -57kg kumite, respectively.

Brokenshire College of Davao (BCD)'s Cartagena, meanwhile, dominated the boys +63kg kumite class.

Navarro and Cartagena were also hailed as the best athletes in their division.

The silvers were from Robert Lawrence Avanceña of Shepered My Lamb Christian School (SMLCS) and Haithem Paquil of UIC.

UIC’s Lanz Banda and Seth Michael Navarro also copped the bronzes for the Rommel Tan-led delegation.
