THE Damosa Land Inc. Chess Challenge will get underway on Saturday, October 13, at the Damosa Market Basket Food Court in Lanang, Davao City.

Organizer Gogo Alba bared this during Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum held at The Annex of SM City Davao yesterday.

Alba said Damosa Market Basket is known to be a regular venue for chessers of Davao City in the past years.

They are motivated to bring it back once more as they aim to provide avenue for local chessers of Davao City.

"Davao City is known to be a chess capital the reason we wanted to open more opportunities for athletes who might soon earn scholarships through their excellence in the game," he said.

The monthly chess tournament, which will run for the next six months, will feature three categories including Division A (21 years old and above), Division B (13-20 years old) and Division C (12 years old and below).

Alba, however, announced that there will be no registration fee but will still be giving away cash prizes and medals to the top three players of each division.

The tournament will be a five-round Swiss System Format event.
