Badilles bags Davao's fifth karatedo gold

TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte -- Jireh Nehemiel Badilles won Davao City's fifth gold medal at the NCCC Mall Tagum as the two-day Batang Pinoy 2019 Mindanao Qualifying Leg karatedo competition resumed at NCCC Mall, Thursday, February 7.

Badilles captured the kumite category boys 10-11 gold in the final day of karatedo action after beating Matthew Besonda of Mati City.

This was a huge comeback from his silver finish in kata boys advance 10-11 event.

Davao City's karatekas hauled a total of four golds, one silver and four bronzes during Wednesday's opener.

Dabawenyos Alexander Blase (kata intermediate boys 10-11), Khyzzia Pauline Navarro (kata intermediate girls 14-15 and kumite girls 14-15 -54 kgs) and Azumi Tacay (kumite girls 12-13 -150cm) annexed golds.

The city's bronze winners were Robert Laurence Avancena (kata intermediate boys 12-13), Aldrin Solon (kata intermediate boys 14-15), Gabriel Thomas Cornello (kata advance boys 12-13), John Philip Cagandahan (kata advance boys 14-15).
