DAVAO Tenpin Bowlers Association (Datba) president Rameses Tancontian emerged champion in the Datba monthly finals for March 2019 at the SM Lanang Premier Bowling Center Sunday, March 31.

Tancontian, an architect by profession, who rolled a total of 1,203 pinfalls after six games to grab the top spot and twice-to-beat advantage in the step-the-ladder finals, beat No. 4 Gabriel Velasco, 191-175 in their titular clash.

Velasco, a Davao Doctors College nursing student, climbed his way to arrange a championship game against Tancontian by demolishing No. 3 Paul Palacio, ABS-CBN anchor, 209-177, before outlasting No. 2 Darius Beloy, 175-174.

Beloy toppled 1,199 pinfalls in the six-game qualifying round to take the second spot of the finals while Palacio (1,199) and Velasco (1,182) placed third and fourth, respectively.

The top four placers Tancontian, Velasco, Beloy and Palacio received cash prizes and trophies.

Jesrael Rule was top qualifier and highest qualifying single while Beloy also got the highest final single title.

The Datba weekly doubles tournament will resume tonight at SM Lanang Premier Bowling Center.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
