DAVAO City's secondary girls team reached the semifinals after routing Tagum City, 13-1, in the resumption of the Davraa Meet 2019 futsal competition at the Barangay Mintal Gym Wednesday, January 30.

Davao City coach Rachelle "Ching" Delos Reyes said the semifinals game is set at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 31, but they were still waiting for their crossover opponent as elimination games in another bracket were still ongoing as of Wednesday afternoon.

"We will play against Davao del Norte or Davao Oriental since Compostela Valley is already on top of the other bracket," she said in the vernacular.

Delos Reyes also hopes they would make it to the finals and eventually win the gold medal.

She added, "If the players perform the movements we have practiced, we could cruise through the finals."

The host team, unbeaten in five games, also defeated Mati City (8-1), Digos City (17-0), Panabo City (17-0) and Island Garden City of Samal (10-0).

Over at the Davao City-University of the Philippines (UP) Sports Complex, the Davao City secondary boys football team already posted two wins after beating Compostela Valley (3-1) and Igacos (5-0).

Meanwhile, the Davao City secondary boys basketball team demolished Davao Oriental, 114-45, Thursday at the University of Southeastern Philippines (Usep) Gym to keep its clean 4-0 win-loss slate. The Nestor Sorrosa-coached squad's other victims were Compostela Valley (100-57), Davao del Norte (104-84) and Mati City (119-61).
