Early harvest

UNIT 4 tracksters started strong, hauling three gold medals and one bronze as of 1 p.m. yesterday in the Davao City Athletic Association (Dcaa) Meet 2018 athletics competition that unfurled at the Davao City National High School track oval.

Only throwing and jumping events, however, began on time while track events were delayed for about three hours as there were portions of flooded and muddy areas along the track that needed to be be cleared for the athletes' safety.

Unit 4's Juvert Losloso clinched the meet's first gold, registering 4.44 meters in elementary boys long jump event. Justin Jay Olan-Olan of Unit 1(4.09m) and Murphy Mocoy of Unit 3 (4m) placed second and third, respectively.

John Elmer Ocares (5.94m) of Unit 4 pocketed the secondary boys long jump gold over Unit 2's Joseph Ranz Norman Anonas (5.93m) and Unit 3's Jivelle Tado (5.66m). Anonas took the silver while Tado got the bronze instead.

In secondary boys shot put, John Mark Cabilla17s of Unit 4 heaved the iron ball to a distance of 10.64 meters to claim the gold as teammate Daniel Carbajal (10.14m) had the silver and Christian Olasiman of Unit 5 (9.84m) ended with a bronze.

Meanwhile, Unit 3 thrower Benz Klien Laroza (8.26m) topped the elementary boys shot put, beating Unit 2 bet Jeff John Sampawan (6.20m) and Unit 4's Jhonmark Sedoripa (5.80m).

Other events were still being played as of presstime.
