DAVAO City's girls 13-under futsal team eked out three straight wins in the Batang Pinoy 2018 National Championships held at St. Louis University in Baguio City on Tuesday, September 18.

The brave Dabawenyas, who pushed through with their trip despite the onslaught of Typhoon Ompong that led Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to cancel the delegation's Batang Pinoy participation, edged Baguio City, 3-1, behind goals of Juliana del Mundo and Janeica Fernandez in the third and fourth minutes, respectively, of the first half.

Akia Cayabyab struck for the city's third goal in the 10th of the second half.

Davao City coach Rachelle "Ching" Delos Reyes said they will be pitted against Greater Manila Area and Mandaue City today.

"If we win our next two games, we will be the champion," Delos Reyes said in the vernacular during a Facebook interview yesterday.

She, however, said Mandaue City would be their strongest opponent.

In earlier games, Davao City defeated Pasig City, 5-1, with goals from Jasmine Agustin, Samantha Salise, Blaine Barredo, Alexandra Javellana and Dave Shanna Gigawin after crushing Benguet Province, 10-0.

The team is also composed of Isabella Taojo, Blaine Barredo, Alexandra Javellana and Lacy Uy. Analou Ingles is assistant coach. (With MLSA)
