OVER a total cash prize of P250,000 will be up for grabs as the 14th Datba Kadayawan NBT Open Tournament will roll off on August 7 to 11 at the SM Lanang Permier Bowling Center and Leisure.

Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association (Datba) president Rameses Tancontian bared this during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at The Annex of SM City Davao yesterday.

"The open masters champion will win P60,000. This is the standard cash prize for open tournaments while the next three placers will receive P30,000, P15,000 and P10,000," he said. They will also bag trophies.

Cash prizes of P7,000, P5,000, P3,000 and P3,000 will be awarded to the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh places, respectively.

Tancontian also said the annual bowlfest also features the seniors, team, singles and all events categories that also stake cash prizes, trophies and medals.

The seniors champion will romp away with P40,000 while the runner-up will settle for P20,000. The next four winners will pocket P10,000, P8,000, P5,000 and P3,000.

He added, "There are qualifying games before the top 36 will play eight games on August 11. Matira ang matibay."

At least 40 bowling clubs in the country, he said, will vie for honors and he hopes Datba players will put up with good finishes.

Philippine Sports Commission Commissioner Charles Raymond Maxey is the invited keynote speaker during the opening program.
