OPTOMETRIST Virgilio "Billy" Magdale annexed the Datba Weekly Tournament title Saturday evening at the SM Lanang Premier Bowling Center.

Magdale, whose handicap is 25, hit a total of 662 pinfalls after three games to pocket the P800 cash prize. He also emerged weekly champion last May 18.

Dario Beloy, with a 29 handicap, garnered 591 pinfalls while

ABS-CBN Davao anchor Paul Palacio (30 handicap) toppled 584 pins to place second and third, respectively, in the Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association (Datba)-organized tournament.

The champion also earned a seat in the monthly finals that stakes bigger cash prizes and creatively-designed trophies.

Saturday winners Magdale and Joshua Disuacido will join top qualifier Ivan Awid, AJ Galendez, Jesrael Rule, Julius Cajis, Kert Palces, Mike Aquiatan, Palacio, Edmund Cambaliza, Rod Tongo and Beloy in the June 1 monthly finals.

Reserves John Tamondong, Crystal Chavez and Datba president Rameses Tancontian.

In the youth division, Jesly Palacio (40 handicap) struck for 515 pinfalls to capture the crown over Benz Palacio (35 handicap) who scored 491 and Stephanie Beloy (40 handicap) who made 479.

It can be recalled that Datba held a youth clinic recently, which encouraged the second generation of pintopplers to also compete regularly. This is the first time, however, that a youth category was entered.
