FOUR school teams have been invited to compete in the Mindanao Peace Games (MPG) 24-Under Men's Football Tournament slated November 7 to 11.

Tournament commissioner Celina Simone Jaldon bared this to SunStar Davao via Facebook on Friday, October 12.

"We have invited Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan, RMMC, and Usep (University of Southeastern Philippines) but no final confirmation yet. Ateneo de Davao is hosting it this year," she said.

The annual 11-A-Side bootfest, according to her, started in General Santos City last year and was hosted by Ramon Magsaysay Memorial College.

She also said the upcoming tournament will be in partnership with One Meralco Foundation.

The opening is set on November 7 while the closing dinner is on November 11.

Jaldon added, "With the objective of going beyond football, the tournament's focus other than the games, is to bring together different individuals from different teams and foster a healthy environment of competition and friendship, to understand our different contexts and to work together to bring football in Mindanao to a more progressive direction, with the development of proper mindsets for both athletes and coaches."

The 4th Mindanao Peace Games, meanwhile, will unfurl at the Father Saturnino Urios University in Butuan City.
