Paeng Nepomuceno in Davao

DAVAO pintopplers are excited to play against four-time World Cup champion Rafael “Paeng” Nepomuceno in the 1st Metba-Davao Kadayawan Open Tenpin Bowling Championships at SM Lanang Premier Bowling Center.

Metro Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association, Inc. (Metba) president Joseph Flores bared this to members of the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) in their forum at The Annex of SM City Davao Thursday, August 22.

He said, “Our local players are very excited and nervous (laughs) as he is still very competitive.”

Nepomuceno is arriving in the afternoon today but Flores said he’s not certain if he will play immediately.

He, however, said the renowned bowler will play on Saturday until Monday as he is seeing action in the mixed open and seniors categories.

“He will also give an inspirational message on Saturday during our dinner program,” Flores said, adding that close to a 100 participants will compete in the Philippine Bowling Federation (PBF)-sanctioned tournament.

A total of P300,000 cash prize will be given away to the winners of the three categories entered. The mixed open top three placers will receive P60,000, P30,000 and P15,000, respectively, while seniors event will award P50,000, P25,000 and P12,000 to the first three bowlers. They will also claim trophies.

Cash prizes of P15,000, P8,000 and P4,000 will be awarded to the youth division top three players.
