FROM back-to-back gold medal finishes in Davraa Meet 2019 in Davao City and Batang Pinoy Mindanao Qualifying Leg in Tagum City, Dabawenya Lyka Catubig will try to keep her winning ways to the upcoming Palarong Pambansa 2019.

Catubig ruled the secondary girls 2,000-meter walkathon in Davraa Meet 2019 before topping the same event in girls 13-15 in Batang Pinoy Mindanao.

The Palaro is slated April 27 to May 4.

Coach Valerio Bulpa, in an interview, said Catubig and the rest of the Davraa athletes who qualified in the Palaro will have in-house training but the schedule has yet to be announced by the Department of Education (Deped) 11.

“Kusog na iyang oras sa walk. Mas matabangan pa na sya sa in-house training (Her time in walkathon is already good. She will improve more during the in-house training),” Bulpa said.

The 14-year-old Catubig, a student of Erico T. Nograles National High School-B in Bago Aplaya, Davao City, will also advance to the Batang Pinoy National Championships in October set either in Tagbilaran City or Ormoc City. (MLSA)
