Rovers FC nips Crocs Pangil

ROVERS Football Club (FC) stunned Crocs Pangil, 1-0, to claim its third straight win in the resumption of the Grassroots Football Cup at the Azuela Cove football pitch in Lanang, Davao City Sunday, July 14.

Joerby Anito knocked in the winning goal for Rovers FC, which earlier defeated Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai International School (PNJKIS), 4-1, and South Shield FC, 1-0, in the under-13 division of the 8-A-Side bootfest.

The loss was Crocs Pangil's first having won its last two games against Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC) Bulldogs (4-1) and PNJKIS (2-1).

RMC FC, meanwhile, edged Southshield FC, 1-0, courtesy of Lance anthony A. Resemiento's goal. RMC also eked out a 9-0 victory over Crocs Lolong last July 7.

PNJKIS, for its part, bounced back from a two-game loss by routing Crocs Lolong, 5-0. Hidiyuki Matsufugi was hailed best player.

In mixed under-nine, Davao Christian and Rovers FC toppled their respective rivals. Rovers FC blanked Hyenas FC, 6-0, behind the heroics of Iñigo Lamorena. Davao Christian also won on the same note against Tamasak Panabo (6-0).

The Davao South Regional Football Association sanctioned the competition organized by Sports Amusement and Recreational Corporation (SparCorp).
