JESRAEL Rule emerged September champion of the Datba Monthly Finals Tournament held Sunday, September 29, at SM Lanang Premier Bowling Center.

Twice-to-beat Rule, who topped the six-game qualifying, beat No. 3 Rod Tongo in just one game, 180-167, to clinch the title and pocket the P10,000 cash prize.

Tongo received the runner-up prize of P4,000.

Rule, who also won the February 2019 crown, amassed a total of 1,229 pinfalls in the elimination round to gain the top seed and twice-to-beat advantage.

He bested Cyrstal Chavez (1,205) who placed second followed by Tongo (1,177) in third and Ulyses Caturan (1,169) fourth.

In the step-the-ladder finals, No. 3 Tongo toppled No. 4 Caturan, 201-141, before eliminating No. 2 Chavez, 225-167. Tongo, thus, then set up a titular clash against Rule in the finals.

Third placer Chavez took home P2,000 while Caturan earned P1,000 in the event organized by the Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association (Datba).

AJ Galendez annexed the top qualifier and highest qualifying single qualifying titles while Chavez copped the finals highest single.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
