Adam B. Morrell

JESRAEL Rule ruled the 13th Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association (Datba) Kadayawan NBT Open Tournament held at the SM Lanang Premier Bowling Center Sunday.

Rule, who recently got married to Ulene, climbed the fourth spot to unseat twice-to-beat Billy Magdale 228-177, 214-194, in the step-the-ladder finals.

Rule who scored 218 earlier bested Luke Bolongan (211) of Bowlingplex Tenpin Association (BTA), Art Galendez (185) of Datba and Crystal Chavez (171) of Datba-Prima.

He amassed a total of 1,697 pinfalls in the eight-game eliminations.

“Special kaayo ni na win kay this is my first ever national championship win and my first Kadayawan title,” Rule said, adding it was such a great honor to compete with the country's top bowlers.

He has been with Datba for the past four years and only won a major tournament for the first time. He cited prayers and a lot of practice as factors to his victory that earned him the P50,000 top prize and champions' trophy, which he dedicated to his wife.

Magdale finished second while Galendez and Chavez placed third and fourth, respectively.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
