Sajulga, Gorre share Araw ng Davao triathlon titles

FELIPE Sajulga III of Caltex Delo Tribu and Gigi Gorre of PNP PRO 11 captured the modified titles of the 82nd Araw ng Davao Festival Triathlon and Novice 2019 held in an out-and-back course from Villa Josefina Resort Village in Dumoy, Toril recently.

Sajulga, competing in the male 35-39 category, emerged modified male overall champion by clocking a total time of two hours, 47 minutes and 34 seconds to beat teammates Jemarvin Cabilan (male 35-39) and Andrei Sajulga (male 18-24) who finished second and third, respectively.

Cabilan timed 2:54:29 while Sajulga registered 3:00:14 in the event organized by Tri Right Mindanao and sponsored by the city government of Davao through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO).

Organizer Stax Savellano said, "Sajulga did his first triathlon in Davao. He's now one of the top triathletes of the country. He twice qualified to the Ironman World Championships in Kona Hawaii."

Gorre (female 45-49), for her part, checked in at 4:07:04 for the modified female title.

The Taylor-Luardo tandem of Run Out of Poverty/Go For Gold cornered the modified relay time title with total time of 2:37:56.

The other champions were Elmer Davo of Tri Davsur (modified male 30-34), Patrick Serrano of Tri SOS (modified male 30-34), Franz Kenji Vilela of Tri Right Mindanao (modified male 18-24), Kenneth Amiel Taylor of Caltex Delo Tribu (modified male 40-44), Leyzander Rosell of LFJC/Trivengers (modified male 25-29), Marvin Malia (modified male 45-49), Pia Francesca Suarez of Team Triad (sprint female overall champion), Alvin Joseph Nolasco of GRSL (sprint female overall champion), Justice Wee of Trinitarian Wildcats GSRL (sprint male 16-24), John Perion of Metroshuttle Trivengers (sprint male 35-44), Karina Angelica Gelito of Team Triad (sprint female 16-24), Reynaldo Dalles of BJMP Lumbia (sprint male 45-54), Nicolas Michalski of Tri Right (Olympic male overall champion), Paolo Serrano of Tri SOS (Olympic male 35-39), Reyjun Vibas of Tri Apo (Olympic male 40-44), Rex Estrera of BJMP Multisport (Olympic male 25-29), Angelo Cagape of Team Elevation (Olympic male 18-24), Jay Mark Baculad of Metacorr (Olympic male 30-34), Miki Tirol of Orangutri (Olympic female overall champion), Edwin Davao of Trikidapz (Olympic male 50-54) and Leslie Herrero of Tri SOS (Olympic female 30-34).
