Tancontian learns from World tourney

BEMEDALED multi-athlete Sydney Tancontian of Davao City bowed out of contention in the 2018 World Youth and Juniors Sambo Championship in Tbilisi, Georgia over the weekend.

She finished with one win and one loss in Group A of the women's 75+ kilogram event.

Tancontian, a varsity judo player of the University of Sto. Tomas, defeated Sabrina Kuldashova of Uzbekistan only to fall at the hands of Anastsiya Hryschanka of Belarus.

The 18-year-old Dabawenya, in a Facebook interview with SunStar Davao Sunday evening, said: "It was a very nice experience po. Marami po akong mga realizations and room for improvements."

She also said that she needs to learn more ground works and strengthening.

"Narealize ko po na kailangan ko pong mag-lose ng weight for me to be able to perform at my best," she said, adding that she eyes to compete in the Seniors World Sambo Championships next month.
