UM tracksters rule Araw athletics

THE University of Mindanao (UM) collected a total of 10 gold medals, 11 silvers and eight bronzes to emerge overall champion in 20-above division of the 2019 Araw ng Davao Athletics Festival held recently at Fr. Martinez Sports Center, Ateneo de Davao University in Matina.

Davao Unified placed second with 10 golds, four silvers and seven bronzes while 1-2-0 University of Southeastern Philippines (Usep) and 1-0-0 Mati finished third and fourth, respectively.

Davao Unified, however, topped the 16-19 overall by hauling seven golds, five silvers and five bronzes whle Toril Ridge (7-3-2) was in close second and Sto. Tomas (2-5-4) third and Run Out of Poverty (2-4-1) fourth.

Mati tracksters governed the 12-15 overall medal tally with nine golds and four bronzes as Panabo (7-9-2), Sto. Tomas (5-5-4) and Hagonoy (2-4-0) trailed behind in the competition headed by event manager Airnel Abarra and sponsored by the city government of Davao through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor’s Office (SDD-CMO).
