THE Davao City Athletic Association (Dcaa) Meet 2018 volleyball competition is down to its final four in all categories this morning while championship matches will be played in the afternoon.

Secondary boys defending champion Unit 6, powered by Ateneo de Davao University with reinforcements from Assumption College of Davao and University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC), grabbed a semifinals berth after sweeping all its three games in pool A.

Unit 6, coached by Dinri Yambao, eliminated Unit 3, 25-13, 25-18, on Thursday, October 18, amidst avid Ateneo supporters and students who cheered with percussion instruments to boot at the bleachers.

However, games were still being played as of Thursday afternoon, October 18, to determine the other semifinalists.

In the distaff side, Unit 6 recovered from a first set loss to survive Unit 8, 20-25, 25-17, 25-22 while defending champion Unit 1 cruised past Unit 4, 25-18, 25-19 in the last pool elimination games.

The semifinals pit Unit 6 against Unit 1 and Unit 5 against Unit 8.

Meanwhile, Unit 1 battles Unit 6 while Unit 3 takes on Unit 4 in elementary boys semifinals even as Unit 3 collides with Unit 1 and Unit 2 clashes against Unit 6 in the elementary girls semifinals.

Unit 2 girls coach Leandro Lucero, in an interview, said Unit 6 is a tough team to beat but her girls are ready for them.

"Kaya ra, positive mga bata na malusutan ang Unit 6 (We can beat them, the girls are positive about it)," said Lucero whose current team recently emerged champion in the 2nd PSC Inter-Public School Volleyball Cup.

Seeing that Unit 6 is a good defensive team, he added that they will counter with "kusog jud nga palo (strong spike), hard spike, hard ball, hard serve."

Unit 2 is a crack selection of players from seven public schools.
