Masbad: Quick hits 43

Quick pass, quick shot. Quick in and out.

Let’s get it started.

No see “Like” in Instagram soon

Okay, now that I got your attention, that can only mean that the number of likes on any of your Instagram posts are fairly important, if not very, to you. A report from Digital Trends, said that Instagram’s CEO, Adam Mosseri announced their plans for the like feature or function in the app.

“Right now we’re testing making like counts private,” Mosseri said in a video clip posted to Twitter. “You’ll be able to see how many likes a given photo or video of yours [has received], but no one else will ... We’re announcing that we’re going to start testing in the U.S. next week.”

It’s an initial test in the US. For now.

Lasers + cameras = disaster

Well, taken apart, they’re both okay on their own. But once you have a camera - mirrorless or a dSLR - and there are lasers for lightshows firing about, that’s a disaster waiting to happen. I can imagine two things happening. One, a random laser hits your camera’s sensor and damages it and, poof! Camera, non-functional. Two, you end up with photos that have weird lines on them that may not be to the liking of your client.

If your client is a concert organizer, that may be added pizzaz. But if your client is a couple on their wedding, that will hours of work on the computer to edit out those nasty lines. In fact, that’s what happened to one photographer in the US. Read more about it here.

Looks like the Mac Pro but is not the Mac Pro

To close out this week’s Quick Hits, here’s a video from Linus Tech Tips with them putting together a Mac Pro doppelgänger but is actually a Windows-based PC.
