Y-Speak: Sweating it out

Sunnexdesk

LIFE is happier, livelier, and healthier when we dance. Dancing is life! Everybody may sway their hips to the rhythm of the music through dancing.

To start the school year right, teachers are promoting health and wellness through different programs. One of these programs is zumba. Zumba combines fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body using principles from aerobic and fitness to achieve cardio and muscle-toning benefits.

With so much fun and sweat, Matina District teachers grooved happily and lively to the beat of the music with their dance guru, Joanh Dela Cuesta.

According to our District Nurse, Maricel Ando, zumba is good for our health. It has many benefits like raising our heart’s endurance and improving blood circulation. Zumba can also be our stress reliever after a whole day or week of teaching inside the four corners of the classroom.

“We can have more social interaction when we dance as a group. Zumba is best enjoyed with lots of company, no worries if you are a dancer or not. It is a good combination of having fun while sweating it out. Thus, we gain more friends and lose some weight,” she added.

As one of the participants of the said program, I did enjoy the dance. It made me feel happy, healthy, and confidently sexy. I am looking forward for more fitness moves. It sounds exciting, right? Now, I am now ready to welcome the new set of learners this school year.

Keep sweating out! Stay healthy and fit. (Janice D. Montalvo, DepEd-Matina District)
