ABOUT 100 local farmers in Dumaguete City participated in an orientation-training in preparation for their employment program in South Korea.

The agricultural workers were oriented by Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo and Councilor Karissa Tolentino-Maxino to address their concerns and be informed on the other requirements needed for them to comply.

Remollo stressed that it is necessary for the farmer-trainees to display perseverance and work ethics so that more beneficiaries will be given the opportunity to avail of the program, which is part of the sisterhood agreement between Yeongdong-gun and Dumaguete City.

Tolentino-Maxino confirmed that the city government has assigned three personnel to manage and supervise the needs of the seasonal farmers during their stay in South Korea.

Some of those who were part of the previous batch gave testimonies on their experiences and tips to ensure that their stay will be safe and worthwhile.

Some 85 percent of those belonging to the earlier batch of farm workers were asked to return by the Korean owner-employers in appreciation of their industry and reliable service. (PR)
